Beit Shemesh has its own city bus network, direct buses to Jerusalem, Bnei Brak, Tel Aviv, Modiin Illit and Beitar Illit, and a train to Tel Aviv. For live times use Moovit or the Ministry of Transport's journey planner on bus.gov.il, or call the national public-transport line, *8787 (Tnufa line pages (opens in a new tab)). Our Getting around page shows the lines and the bus stops nearest you.

Buses to Jerusalem (Tnufa)

Jerusalem buses are run by Tnufa, which took over from Egged in 2022; the old 41x lines became 61x (414→614, 415→615, 417→617, 418→618) (418.co.il, Apr 2022 (opens in a new tab)). On a sample weekday (Tuesday 6 October 2026) the Ministry of Transport timetable had Tnufa lines 600, 615, 616, 617, 618, 619, 620, 626 and 630 running between Beit Shemesh and Jerusalem, with line 600 the most frequent at about 90 trips a day in each direction (Ministry of Transport GTFS via Open Bus Stride (opens in a new tab)).

City buses, Bnei Brak and Tel Aviv

Beit Shemesh Express (Nateev Express group, *3343) runs the city lines, 25 of which ran on 6 October 2026, plus lines 680 and 690 to Bnei Brak (Ayalon Mall) (Nateev Express (opens in a new tab); GTFS via Open Bus Stride (opens in a new tab)). The same day's timetable also had lines 411 and 412 to Tel Aviv (GTFS via Open Bus Stride (opens in a new tab)).

Other intercity lines

From the same 6 October 2026 timetable (GTFS via Open Bus Stride (opens in a new tab)):

  • Modiin Illit: Kavim line 885.
  • Beitar Illit: Kavim lines 128, 147, 148 and 168.
  • Neve Daniel and Efrat: Electra Afikim line 409, from the railway station.

The train: Tel Aviv, not Jerusalem

Beit Shemesh station is in the northern industrial area by the BIG centre. On 6 October 2026 its trains ran only towards Tel Aviv (9 departures towards Tel Aviv Center and 8 towards Netanya); no trains ran to Jerusalem (Malha), a service that stopped in March 2020 (GTFS via Open Bus Stride (opens in a new tab); Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)). NBN also calls the Tel Aviv line the practical one (NBN (opens in a new tab)). Check rail.co.il before you travel.

Rav-Kav

Beit Shemesh Express has four Rav-Kav service points: Kishon corner Nachal Tzeelim 2 (RBS A); Lev HaRama, Nahar HaYarden 1 (RBS B); the Rimonim centre, Devorah HaNeviah 1 (RBS C); and Yitzhak Rabin 17. All open Sunday to Thursday 08:00-21:00 and Friday 08:00-13:00 (Nateev Express (opens in a new tab)). Pupils in grades 1-4 who study 2 km or more from home, and grades 5-10 at 3 km or more, can get municipal help funding their Rav-Kav (municipality (opens in a new tab)).

Taxis and lifts

Local taxi companies are in the directory. There is a community RBS Ride Sharing WhatsApp group with hundreds of members, listed on the M3 neighbourhood directory (m3rbs.com (opens in a new tab)); see groups.

Distance

Beit Shemesh is about 30 km west of Jerusalem (Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)).
